The Free Consultation Call.

What to expect in a consultation call

A lot of practitioners offer a free consultation call. What does that mean? This short (20 minutes or so) call is a time for you to get a feel for the clinician that you might be working with. You can ask questions and explain your needs from a therapy standpoint. The therapist should also explain how they work. They may say that they use CBT, Mindfulness, or EMDR and if you have any questions or don't know what these therapies are, this is your time to ask.

Some other questions you may want answered:

  • - How much do you charge and do you supply superbills that I can send to my insurance if they reimburse. Do you take my insurance. If no, you can always check with your insurance to see if they will reimburse (and how much) for an Out of Network provider (like myself).

  • - Ask about how often therapy happens and if they can provide a consistent timeslot

  • - What is Walk & Talk

  • - How does Teletherapy work

  • - Do you work with people who (fill in the blank of your unique need, orientation, religion, culture etc)

  • - other questions or concerns

  • You should feel some rapport or ease with the therapist. This is a call to really help you in your decision of who you want to take on the very important role of your therapist.

This blog is just informational and is not meant to provide any therapeutic knowledge, or limit questions that you may want to ask during a consultation call.
